Chocolate. Such a wonderful treat. It’s so hard to find smooth, wonderful dark chocolate bars that are not your run-of-the-mill 95% Lindt bar at the grocery store. The hubs and I made a trip to our Houston Central Market last weekend. It’s a good 40 minute drive from our house, so we don’t venture there too often. We went on a chocolate bar shopping spree this weekend. And that’s putting it lightly. We bought about 20 of the most fun, dark and exotic chocolate bars Central Market had to offer. Expect more chocolate reviews in the coming weeks!
Ouganda Comptoir du Cacao Chocolate Bar
The first chocolate bar up for review is this 80% “Ouganda” Comptoir du Cacao bar from France. This is hands down one of the best chocolate bars I have ever had in my life. And I have eaten a lot of chocolate. It’s smooth and creamy. It is not acidic, and has the perfect balance of sweetness and dark cacao flavor. I would certainly buy this again. It’s only 80%, so it’s definitely an indulgence for a strict ketogenic diet. I promise, it’s worth it.
The Comptoir du Cacao company has been around since the 1990’s, and operates out of a family-owned store in France. Central Market is the only place in Houston I have found this chocolate brand. It can also be ordered online from the company’s website by clicking here. Compoir also sells a 75% Tanzanian chocolate bar and a 72% Venezuelan chocolate bar, both of which might be hitting my doorstep soon.
The Comptoir packaging is another fun feature. The chocolate bar boxes have colorful art reminiscent of the origin of the cacao in each respective bar. I am a sucker for creative and clean packaging, and the Comptoir bars deliver.
All-in-all, Comptoir offers beautiful packaging, top-of-the-line ingredients, and unbelievably smooth and dark chocolate. I highly recommend the indulgence of the Ouganda Comptoir du Cacao Chocolate Bar! It’s worth every bite.
